A message from your tutor
Good day, everyone. My name is Ignatius Roux, and I am the tutor behind Lumenos. I would like to introduce myself and my business to you.
I was born and raised in sunny South Africa, where I completed my bachelor’s degree in Law and Psychology. I pursued a career in marketing management and consulting, where it was necessary to translate my work into and from English to serve all our clients and customers. In time, translating, editing, and persuasive communication became part of my daily life; this is how I discovered my love for languages.
Years later, I decided to fully utilize my language and teaching skills by coming to South Korea to teach English, where I have been ever since. In more than five years of teaching, I have found great pride and fulfillment in watching students discover their potential, reach their goals, and master the challenges they face. This growth in and mastery of English is what I as your tutor offer you.
What is Lumenos?
Lumenos is the culmination of years of experience in language services, professional communication, and English teaching. The name is a portmanteau of the Latin and Greek words for light, “lumen” and “phos”, and it symbolizes the illuminating effect of learning a new language.
My aim with Lumenos is to equip students with their own “lamp” and help them gradually turn up the brightness. By giving them a bespoke and personalized path to success, students will gain mastery of the language, and those hoping to specialize and hone their skills will become confident and capable in their fields.
In time, we will grow and expand our services to cover wider areas of expertise and interest. We would like to not only teach English to our students but also immerse them in material and media appropriate to their skill level, allowing them to enjoy and confidently interact with the world with their newfound skills.
